Amazone: New 6.0m and 7.0m Centaur cultivator disc harrows

At Agritechnica 2009, Amazone will present the Centaur cultivator disc harrow combination with 6.0m and 7.0m working widths, augmenting the present series which currently offers working widths of 3.0m, 4.0m and 5.0m.
The working principle allows for optimum adjustment to the local conditions and agricultural methods in use. A disc cultivator unit follows several offset rows of cultivator tines, which mix the soil, in order to thoroughly level and crumble the soil surface. Amazone also uses the wedge ring roller principle on these machines for reconsolidation of the soil, which only presses the soil down in strips.
The Centaur 6.0m and 7.0m widths come in two different versions for working with a variety of different local requirements. The Centaur Super has four offset rows of tines (20cm tine spacing) and a two-row disc cultivator unit. Amazone recommends this machine for all locations with very high requirements for intensive soil tillage, such as areas with large quantities of straw that is not recovered, and where the subsequent sowing is largely carried out using passive technology.
For locations which require less intensive soil tillage, Amazone offers the Centaur Special with three tine bars (25cm tine spacing) and a single-row levelling unit. As a multifunctional cultivator-disc harrow combination, all types can be used not only for mixing soil tillage at various depths, but also for shallow stubble cultivation.
To ensure that the machines can optimally incorporate large quantities of organic materials into the soil, the Amazone designers have provided a very generous frame height of 105cm, giving around 85cm clearance to the tines. The new, proven 3D tines additionally offer safeguards against overload and stones, and can move not only upwards but also to the side to avoid obstacles. The frame elements have oscillating fixings, enabling them to adapt optimally to the ground contours. The 7.0m wide version of the new Amazone flagship can achieve an area coverage for deep soil tillage of up to 7ha/hr. The tractor power requirement is approx. 330hp for a 6.0m working width or 380hp for a 7.0m working width.
