McConnel’s new 55 Series Power Arm (PA) hedge and verge cutters succeed the iconic PA93 Super Slew mid-range machine that has won praise from customers around the world.
The two new models offer a perfect combination of power, performance and value that makes them a popular choice with farmers, contractors and local authorities. The PA5155 has a reach of 5.1m, while the PA5455 is slightly bigger with a 5.4m reach.
Both machines are three-point linkage mounted and feature 55hp, 100 lit/min. They also have advanced hy-reach geometry for cutting tight to the tractor at any height within the cutting range; hydraulic Power Slew for safe transport and behind the cab cutting; and a damage-prevention safety breakaway function.
New features on the 55 Series machines include fully bushed pivot points to reduce stress on the arms and ensure greater reliability; a redesigned hood that allows easy access to hydraulic components and is securely sealed to keep the 180 litre oil tank clean and dry and reduce the risk of contamination; a redesigned hydraulic layout; a cushioned top link for extra protection and comfort in transport mode; sleek new colours to signify the machine’s next-generation status; and an optional mid-cut pack.
Buyers have a choice of four different control systems available, and prices start at £17,900 (Apr 2012).
