Lemken has announced the appointment of Rickerby as a Lemken main dealer throughout its trading area. This will provide customers in Northern England and the Borders with improved dealer coverage.
Lemken has many well-established and dedicated dealers throughout the UK and Ireland, however there are a number of areas lacking in suitable dealer coverage. One such area has been South Northumberland, Durham and Cumbria. Rickerby approached Lemken in July and it quickly became clear that the dealership offered the firm the opportunity to address this weakness. The agreement ensures that farmers and contractors in the Rickerby area have the same opportunity to benefit from Lemken machines as customers in other parts of the UK.
Rickerby, like Lemken, is a family business with a long history in agricultural machinery. While Lemken is celebrating 230 years of business in 2010, and 50 years of sales to the UK market, Rickerby celebrates 130 years’ trading this year.
Both companies are fully committed to the provision of high-quality machinery, parts and service, to the agricultural industry. The agreement will allow Rickerby customers to benefit from Lemken quality product, professionally supported by one of the UK’s leading machinery dealers.
Rickerby’s sales staff have already attended an introductory product training course, and a significant number of machines have been placed on order for stock, and others retailed to customers. Parts stock has been ordered and is being delivered, while training for parts and service staff will also take place.
Lemken has stressed that the appointment is based on the need to improve geographical coverage in the region and Rickerby being the best possible dealer for that job. It is not, as has been suggested by some parties, an indication of a tie up between Lemken and Claas.
Lemken UK is pleased to work with some of the most professional and respected dealers in the country. In some cases these are Claas dealers, but John Deere, Agco and New Holland dealers also account for a major part of the company’s annual turnover.
