Same Deutz-Fahr has appointed Creran Engineering as its new Deutz-Fahr dealer in Argyll. Based just north of Oban, the company is headed up by Ewen Macgillvray, who started the business two years ago.
A man who clearly has a determination to succeed, Ewen says he has always wanted to run his own agricultural dealership.
“I come from a farming family, but my interests were more in engineering,” he said. “I did a four-year apprenticeship maintaining heavy machinery used in a large granite quarry before starting work with a local dealer based in Oban.”
And then, when his father built some business units at the boat yard the family own, he took one of the units on and started Creran Engineering.
“A large part of my business is involved in maintaining or replacing marine engines but, with my farming connections, the agricultural side is increasing rapidly,” Ewen said. “So the appointment of the Deutz-Fahr franchise is an important development for us.”
Ewen points out that, with local farming tending to major on livestock activities, he expects the Deutz-Fahr Agrofarm and K-Series tractors which span the 85-127hp power band to be a popular choice with his customers.
“These are fine tractors that are clearly well built and, with a Deutz engine on board, offer a high degree of reliability,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to introducing my customers to the Deutz-Fahr range.”For more information visit: www.deutz-fahr.com.
