A new agricultural machinery dealership – Cheshire Farm Machinery – has been launched by Andrew Dutton and Stephen Sykes. Based near Northwich, the new company is marketing the Same and Deutz-Fahr tractor ranges to farmers in the county.
No strangers to SDF products, both Andrew and Stephen have spent quite a few years working in dealerships which carried these brands and both have had a lifetime’s experience in agricultural engineering.
“We’ve been friends for the best part of 30 years and attended the same agricultural college, and for the last few years we have been working for the same tractor dealership,” Andrew said. “It has been an ambition of ours for a long time and the opportunity to start a business with the strength and support of a major tractor manufacturer was not to be missed.”
Opened June 1, there was a flurry of activity as the workshop was set up along with an office and a parts and tractor display area.
“It’s important to provide customers with the highest level of assistance from day one, from the point of sale to technical support, parts and servicing,” Stephen said, “and we intend to achieve just that.”
The pair believe higher-horsepower four-cylinder tractors will be in demand – the Deutz-Fahr M420 and the Same Iron 125, for example – although with a high number of dairy farms in the area, there is likely to be interest in the smaller tractors too.
“If we have learned anything when dealing with Same and Deutz-Fahr tractors it’s that they are reliable,” Andrew said, “and for our business it’s encouraging to know we won’t need to be spending time in the workshop when we could be out there supporting our customers.”
