Tuckwell’s buys Buckle’s as Deere consolidation continues

P Tuckwell has agreed to buy JE Buckle’s John Deere dealership.

The boards of P Tuckwell Ltd and JE Buckle Ltd have announced that an agreement has been reached for the acquisition of Buckle’s trading area and assets by P Tuckwell Ltd.
The transaction sees two of East Anglia’s most respected and long-serving John Deere dealers combine forces to form a stronger and more dynamic dealership, capable of offering customers in Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire the very best in machinery sales and service.
The agreement is expected to be completed by June 1, 2012. Both the existing Buckle depots, at Maulden, Bedfordshire, and Cromer, Hertfordshire, as well as all the Buckle staff and franchises, will continue with the new business. The Buckle family will also continue to serve existing customers in key strategic roles of the new business and will also carry out duties as directors within P Tuckwell Ltd.
Buckle’s managing director, Gary Buckle, said delivering sales and service solutions to customers had always been a top priority.
“Although very successful today, we fully understand that as a lone and relatively small scale organisation, JE Buckle Ltd is exposed to the future challenges of mainline farm and turf machinery distribution,” he said. “We believe the well-established, family-owned Tuckwell group offers perfect synergy, scale and opportunity to continue to provide these solutions for our customers long into the future.”

Paul Tuckwell, who is joint managing director of Tuckwell’s with his son James, said he was extremely excited to welcome all the staff and customers of JE Buckle Ltd to the Tuckwell group.
“Our aim is to work closely with the existing Buckle team so that we can continue to build on the excellent values, customer relationships and service levels that have been established over the past 42 years,” he said.
