Following a period of joint venture ownership of Italian farm equipment manufacturer Gallignani, Kverneland has announced that it’s taking full control of the firm’s bale equipment factory at Ravenna, Italy, as part of a strategy to invest in the strategically important round baler and wrapper market.
The is Kverneland’s latest move to return to baler manufacturing after the company sold its original Vicon baler range and factory to Kuhn at the end of 2008. It returned to the market two years later by selling Gallignani balers rebranded as Vicon machines in 2010.
Under the latest deal, the Gallignani brand will be jointly owned by Kverneland Group and the Gallignani family. The production and distribution of conventional square balers currently built in Turkey will remain in the ownership of the Gallignani family, whereas the round balers and the wrappers will be in the ownership of Kverneland Group. The Gallignanis will also continue their Sigma 4 front loader business as usual.
