New Holland’s CX5000 and CX6000 range of conventional combines have been significantly improved to offer increased efficiency and productivity for farms of 200-600ha.
Intelligent innovation comes as standard across the entire range, which has been engineered by design to offer ultimate flexibility in all crops with guaranteed optimal grain and straw quality.
The maximum grain tank size of 9,300 litres is the perfect match for the largest 24ft headers, and the entire CX5000 and CX6000 Series benefits from New Holland’s acclaimed ergonomic excellence and distinctive styling cues.
The distinctive styling of the new combines is reminiscent of the flagship CX8000 and CR9000 Elevation ranges. Key New Holland harvesting styling cues have been integrated into the overall design, including the large, single-piece opening side doors that facilitate daily checks and maintenance. The range’s curved shielding is a key New Holland trademark, as are the turntable stairs for reduced overall width for road transport and which also allow easy operator access.
These aesthetic improvements have real-world productivity advantages. The over-the-top unloading auger means higher and larger trailers can be used and the opening and closing of the grain tank covers can be electronically activated from the comfort of the cab, improving capacity and the operator experience.
New Holland has applied its evolved numbering strategy to the CX5000 and CX6000 range to make performance and machine specification immediately obvious to the customer. The ‘CX’ refers to conventional threshing combines and the first digit, the ‘5’ or the ‘6’, denotes the number of straw walkers. The final two numbers, either ’80’ or ’90’ indicate the machine’s productivity – the higher the number, the more productive the machine.
The CX5000 and CX6000 range benefits from a completely new cab interior. The armrest has been redesigned to fit the range’s reduced dimensions and the operation logic is shared with the flagship CX8000 and CR9000 Elevation machines. The most frequently used controls are grouped together, to the right of the operator, for ergonomic and intuitive operation.

The Command Grip multifunction handle, which will be familiar to FR9000 operators, hosts all header, unloading and forward speed controls. The armrest mounted, IntelliView III colour touchscreen monitor displays information on all machine operating parameters at a glance and enables guidance to be swiftly and efficiently engaged.
New Holland knows that in order to guarantee the best crop prices, grain must be harvested at peak condition. The real-time moisture sensing provides operators with an accurate moisture reading which is displayed on the IntelliView III monitor. A sensor sits in the grain elevator and continually measures the moisture content, which enables the operator to fine tune machine settings in order to maintain grain quality.
The on-the-go yield sensor continually measures the mass of crop being harvested. This information can be downloaded and used in conjunction with New Holland’s precision farming software to generate field-maps to fine tune inputs to improve the overall uniformity of the yield.
To improve pass to pass accuracy, and to reduce the number of in-field runs, the SmartSteer system uses a laser scanner, mounted on the right hand platform railing, to distinguish between the cut and uncut crop. This automatically adjusts the steering to ensure maximum header fill. When harvesting maize, the header can be equipped with row guidance technology. A sensor is fitted between the harvesting teeth and makes sure the crop is fed into the centre of each row for optimal flow for harvesting efficiency. The ECOBlue Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system is used to meet the stringent Stage 3B emissions standards in engines developed in partnership with Fiat Powertrain Technologies. A fundamental element of the ECOBlue SCR system is AdBlue, the solution that is injected in the after-treatment system to neutralise the harmful exhaust emissions produced during combustion.
The range’s AdBlue system has been designed for minimal operator input, and the 110-litre tank only needs to be filled every other diesel refill. It is also conveniently located next to the pre-existing 580-litre diesel tank to ensure hassle-free filling. Operators are kept continually informed of AdBlue levels courtesy of in-cab displays.
New Holland will help its customers to adopt the ECOBlue SCR technology during the transitional period by delivering a 1,000-litre AdBlue tank together with an electrical pump free of charge. All New Holland authorised dealers will also stock AdBlue in containers of varying sizes in order to suit individual farmer’s needs.
The ECOBlue SCR system offers significant performance advantages. The new CX5000 and CX6000 range develops maximum harvesting power of between 258-333hp which means operators will have the power on tap to tackle even the most demanding conditions and crops. The range topping CX6090 boasts the Cursor 9 powerplant, whereas the remaining three models will sport the 6.7-litre common-rail Nef engine.
Fuel consumption is further reduced by the Cruise Control system available during road transport, which can be actuated via a dedicated button on the Command Grip handle. This system reduces engine speed during transport, thereby reducing fuel consumption.
The CX5000 and CX6000 range benefits from New Holland’s four-drum threshing solution. |
New Holland knows that customers frequently grow a wide variety of crops on their farms. In order to reduce downtime when changing between crops, New Holland has developed optional sectional concaves. The time taken to change these concaves has been reduced from four hours to just 20 minutes – a task one man can perform unaided – to significantly improve harvesting efficiency.
The CX5000 and CX6000 range benefits from New Holland’s four-drum threshing solution for ultimate grain and straw quality. The standard threshing drum and beater offer the traditional quality and performance you’ve come to expect of New Holland. The Rotary Separator is ideal for harvesting in difficult conditions and in crops of a higher moisture content. New Holland’s patented Straw Flow Beater accelerates the crop onto the straw walkers for improved separation performance and greater straw flow.
The Opti-Thresh system has been developed for operations which have varying straw quality requirements. A moveable deflector plate can be adjusted for improved grain or straw quality depending on actual need. The Multi-Thresh system alters the aggressiveness of the Rotary Separator in function of the crop type. In a heavier, wetter crop, the separation is more aggressive to ensure that every grain is extracted from the crop and in ideal harvesting conditions, separation is less aggressive for higher straw quality. Both of these systems can be quickly and easily adjusted using the dedicated ergonomic lever on the side of the machine.
The SmartSieve feature is ideal for operations that work on undulating terrain. This system automatically changes the throw angle of the grain on the sieve to prevent build-ups of grain and straw which are a key cause of poor grain samples or grain losses.
The Opti-Fan system compensates for the gravitational affects on crops during harvesting. The operator sets the fan speed on level ground and the system automatically adjusts it when the harvester goes up or downhill. When travelling on upward slopes the speed is reduced to ensure the material does not travel too quickly over the top sieve causing losses, when tackling downhill gradients it increases the speed to prevent thick build ups. This efficient system requires no extra work from the operator and provides a better grain sample together with reduced losses.
The CX5000 and CX6000 range benefits from over-the-top unloading technology. The system enables super-fast unloading of up to 100 lit/min, which leaves the operator free to concentrate on harvesting and maintains in-field performance. The unloading auger benefits from 105 degrees of swing for improved unloading visibility for reduced loses when unloading, and compatibility with taller trailers for a reduction in the number of individual grain transports back to the farm.
Steep slopes have traditionally equated to reduced harvester performance and increased losses. In order to defy gravity New Holland has developed the Laterale variants for operations that work extensively in hilly conditions. The Laterale option, available on the CX5090 and CX6090 models, offers side-to-side leveling of up to 18 per cent to ensure an even crop distribution on the grain pan and efficient cleaning and traction.
For those working on extreme terrain, a powered rear axle is available for the ultimate in traction.
