Claas: Baby Avero joins combine range

It probably won’t be coming to the UK, but Claas had added the new 160 model at the bottom of its Avero combine range to extend its offering for small- and medium-sized farms.
Like the 198hp Avero 240, the new model is powered by a Caterpillar C 6.6 engine, although it has been derated to give just 158hp. The 160 has the same cleaning system and the same residual grain separation with four straw walkers as the Avero 240, but has a conventional threshing system.
In the section of the combine harvester where the grain is separated from the rest of the plant, optimal crop flow is provided by a threshing drum that is 1,060mm wide and 450mm in diameter. The threshing drum can be used for a variety of crops ranging from wheat to rape seed. The segments of the threshing concave can be replaced specially for harvesting maize and sunflower seeds.
A spacious and ergonomically designed cab makes for a more relaxed working day in the Avero 160. From adjusting the cutterbar and threshing concave to checking the returns, the entire combine harvester can be controlled and monitored from the cab. All this can be accomplished using user-friendly control elements, such as the multifunction lever and the adjustable steering column. The Claas Information System provides the driver with relevant machine data ranging from tank and temperature display to throughput, blower speed and threshing drum speed.

The Avero 160 is the new entry-level combine in the Claas range.

The Contour automatic cutterbar control system enables the cutterbar to adapt to the ground contours thanks to electronic pressure sensors mounted longitudinally to the direction of travel. The ground pressure and cutting height of the cutterbar adapt automatically to every undulation in the ground.
