Claas has extended its range of Terra Trac running gear for the 2012 to include three different track widths: 635mm, 735mm and 890mm.
The Lexion 750 can travel at speeds of up to 40km/hr and with the 735mm Terra Trac belt achieves an impressive contact area of 2.68sq m despite having a transport width of only 3.49m. The 890mm wide Terra Trac has an even greater contact area of 3.25sq m.
The Lexion 770, 760 and 670 are also available with Terra Trac and also, depending on model, with the different track belt widths.
Thanks to the Terra Trac system, the combine is able to move across the field much more smoothly and with a minimal impact on the soil. All of the components, such as the drive wheel, wheel and support rollers, are spring-mounted separately in the running gear. This reduces the impact on the chassis and engine, increases comfort for the driver and generates enhanced cornering stability.
Claas now has three size options for its Terra Trac system. |
The technology also provides optimal guidance of the cutterbar, particularly with large cutterbar widths. The track belt is automatically tensioned, increasing the operational reliability of the machine.
The Terra Trac system results in increased soil protection ( up to 66 per cent better than a wheeled machine), improved traction in wet conditions or on slopes, greater stability for slope work, less tractive resistance, less slippage and thus less fuel consumption, as well as increased harvesting performance through faster road trips.
