Shelbourne Reynolds: Uprated Powerspread Dairy spreaders

Stanton, Suffolk-based Shelbourne Reynolds has introduced a number of updates to its Powerspread Dairy muck and slurry spreader. The machine has been the stalwart of the Powerspread (formerly Econ) range for 15 years and sales have continued to grow, however customer feedback has suggested a few enhancements that have now been carried out.
The most significant change is an uprated driveline that now incorporates a larger 12mm main auger shearbolt that’s much more conveniently located on the main auger drive sprocket. This replaces the former 6mm shearbolt found on the drive hub of previous Dairy models. This update will allow more power to be transmitted through the driveline.
The drive chains on the Powerspread Dairy have also been uprated, while many of the grease nipples have been relocated into more accessible banks to make thorough servicing easier and quicker. The slurry deflector above the door has also been modified and strengthened, while the final touch was updating the paint scheme and stickers to the new Shelbourne livestock equipment colours of grey and black.
All of the other features of the Powerspread range such as the right-hand side centre-mounted discharge rotor and door, and overshot rotor are retained to give the machine a superior spread patern in both liquids and solids at a very competitive price. The Powerspread can handle all types of farmyard manure including dry poultry litter and industrial wastes accurately and with a fine fragmentation.
All models feature a tapered tub design and a unique contra-rotating auger that pulls material from both the front and rear of the spreader to the patented centrally opening door.
This produces a boiling action inside the spreader when applying a fine coating of manure and reduces the stresses on the body of the spreader. The door of the Powerspread lifts vertically allowing the full width of the impeller to be used at all times. The impeller itself is overshot in design, or spinning upwards, at 700rpm which makes for a very fine fragmentation, which is essential for grassland work, and gives spread widths in excess of 20m.
The Powerspread range includes the general-purpose Dairy model with capacities of 7,250 litres, 8,200 litres and 9,000 litres; the short wheelbase Powerspread Pro with capacities of 8,200 litres and 10,400 litres; and the long wheelbase Powerspread Pro that has a capacity of 10,900 litres or 14,500 litres.
