The Acclaimed Software Company has launched Jethro 2.0, the latest version of its precision farming software. Offering automated precision control, field mapping, guidance, autosteer functionality and record keeping all from a single console, the Jethro software can be customised to suit individual hardware and machinery manufacturers.
Although Jethro is a very sophisticated precision farming software, the user is not overwhelmed with complexity. Driver and map screens contain only essential information, making them simple and clear. Action/Menu screens allow them to drill down to other selections and options.
Another beauty of Jethro is the ability to make set-up changes at any time, for example to change any GPS antenna misalignment, alter GPS input/output and make changes to automatic section control (ASC) such as nozzle delay, or overlap preferences.
Jethro Lite is a basic yet robust guidance system developed to rival the existing retro-fit market in terms of ability, speed and cost, negating the need for high-spec hardware while retaining high speed and capability. It has been developed for Microsoft Windows CE operating system (also known as Windows Embedded Compact, Embedded CE, WinCE or Pegasus).
Jethro provides GPS automatic recognition of stored locations. All fields and jobs can be catalogued along with spatial data. Jethro automatically calculates A-B lines from the edge of the field boundary, which can be selected or deselected by the user.
Jobs are automatically recorded along with completed status, coverage and overlaps, previous A-B lines and boundaries and optional driver, weather and chemical information (from an extensive chemical list). Any job can be suspended and reactivated at a later date. Set-up is simple and quick, and a full “help” menu is available.
Jethro typically uses a full-colour touch screen. The guidance display features overhead and 3D “behind cab” views with optional vehicle data on-screen. The guidance screen is kept clean and simple for ease of user operation, with a lightning bolt to activate the menu options.
Through accurate set-up configuration, Jethro can counter for physical delays and latency in the equipment control system. Nozzle delay is also input and countered for so that Jethro sprays at exactly the right time. As well as in vehicle set-up, section control alterations and tweaks can be made from the action screen – such as selecting ASC to set nozzle delay and change percentage of overlap.
ASC can control any number of boom sections. There’s also the option to add variable rate control. Prescription maps can be uploaded, and Jethro is compatible with SOYL Precision Farming. Accuracy and timing of control is extremely accurate, and can be brought down to millisecond level using The Acclaimed Software Company‘s iObox.
Jethro has been designed to work seamlessly with autosteer systems such as AutoFarm’s GeoSteer. The autosteer function makes driving much easier and negates the need for hours of concentration to keep the vehicle on course. Enhanced GPS can be used together with autosteer to achieve farm traffic management.
Jethro is available to distributors, system hardware manufacturers or original equipment manufacturers and can be customised to integrate smoothly in different models of vehicle. Jethro can offer all features or be adapted to suit basic hardware in a simpler software version. It can run on ultra-mobile PCs to ruggedised tablets and is suitable for Windows 8, Windows 7, XP or CE.
A web-based version to monitor equipment using the software is also available for use on smartphones and iOS and Android tablets.
