Kirovsky Zavod: Kirovets 9000 series tractors feature novel transmission

Among the Russian-built tractors at Agritechnica 2009 was the Kirovets 9400 from Kirovsky Zavod that features a new CVT transmission from Mali International.
Now in its sixth generation, the 9000 series of articulated tractors features five models from 354-516hp.
Built at St Petersburg, these latest models are the result of more than 85 years of manufacturing experience during which time the factory has turned out more than 500,000 tractors.
All five models feature Mercedes-Benz engines, but it’s the transmission that makes these machines special as they are the first production tractors to be fitted with the CVT transmission developed by Mali International.

The Mali International CVT transmission was designed by the engineer behind Fendt’s Vario transmission.

Mali is owned by Markus Liebherr and has been working on novel transmissions for some years now. The example fitted in the Kirovets 9400 is the largest built by the company so far, although gearboxes capable of handling much larger power outputs are in the pipeline.
The development of the transmission has been led by the engineer that developed Fendt’s Vario transmission, but who has been working for Mr Liebherr since retiring from Fendt several years ago.
