JCB: New 270hp Fastrac 7270 unveiled at Sima 2009

Just months after the new 7000 Series went into production, JCB is building on its early success by adding a new 7270 model.
The 7270 Fastrac offers all the features and benefits of its 7000 Series stablemates but with the addition of extra power and torque. The newcomer is powered by a 6.7-litre Cummins six-cylinder engine, offering a maximum power output of 270hp.
The 7000 Series range of Fastrac tractors forms a new generation of advanced and highly-productive power units for farmers and contractors.
Among the features are: The industry’s largest and most comfortable tractor cab with climate control as standard; a brand new 24-speed semi-powershift transmission; and a full all-round, self-levelling suspension that allows safe operation up to 70km/hr between fields and provides the industry’s finest ride comfort and excellent traction.
All models in the 7000 Series feature a four-range, six-powershift transmission giving the tractor a fingertip-controlled power shuttle, with 24 forward speeds and nine reverse.
A touch screen monitor allows different operating modes to be selected, such as a fully automatic dynamic-shifting for road use, where the transmission will go up and down the gears according to changes in engine loads. Alternatively, the operator can manually shift up and down gears with the seat-mounted joystick.
The operator station sets new standards in operator comfort. This all new JCB designed, engineered and constructed cab features a full size seat for passengers installed alongside the luxury air-suspended driver’s seat. Its four-post structure, gives the operator first-rate visibility in all directions for keeping a close eye on implements and obstructions. The large glass area, uninterrupted by side pillars, also creates a light and airy environment.
High-volume ventilation with fully automatic climate control adds to comfort and minimises fatigue during long hours spent at the fully-adjustable steering wheel, while seat-mounted major controls and a touch-screen information and control monitor help the driver make best use of the tractor’s productive features.
The driver is presented with digital and analogue displays providing at-a-glance updates of essential operating information on a new slimline instrument panel. On the armrest, operators get some of today’s essential fixtures and fittings – MP3 player connection and mobile phone charge point.
The Fastrac’s renowned ride comfort and surefooted stability have been further improved for the 7000 Series tractors. In addition to the innovative self-levelling rear suspension, which maintains a set ride height regardless of load, there is a similar system for the front axle.
Ride-height sensors trigger a response to quickly pump up or soften the suspension whenever there is a change of load. It maintains full suspension travel at all times, preventing front-end lift when carrying a heavy implement on the rear linkage, and nose-lowering when lifting heavy front implements. An all-new chassis supports this advanced suspension set-up, along with the bigger capacity rear axle and 9,100kg rear and optional 3,500kg front implement linkage systems.
