Cogent Breeding has appointed Graham Higgott as the company’s UK sales development manager with a remit to expand semen sales, increase market share and promote Cogent’s range of technical breeding services.
Mr Higgott, who is from a dairy farming background, has almost 20 years of experience within the dairy sector as a farm manager and latterly as a herd breeding advisor. He has previously worked for Cogent Breeding in a sales capacity covering the counties of Staffordshire and Derbyshire, and more recently, Devon and Somerset. He has rejoined the company to focus on growing the business within the UK through increased semen sales and by expanding customer uptake of Cogent’s precision breeding services.
Mr Higgott’s role will entail working with Cogent’s UK sales team to boost sales to prospective and existing customers, with a specific remit to proactively target larger herds and buying groups.
“We’re delighted that Graham has returned to the Cogent business and look forward to working closely with him to expand sales within the UK,” the company’s UK sales manager, Mike Phillips, said.
“Graham has a wealth of knowledge and experience within the UK dairy sector. His skills and expertise are ideally suited to Cogent’s goal of expanding sales through a targeted marketing campaign, with large turnover customers being the focus of his attention.”
Commenting on his appointment, Graham Higgott said he was delighted to be working with Cogent once again.
“The company has a fantastic portfolio of bulls, with proven, genomic and young sires suited to every dairy and beef business,” he added. “This wide line-up of sires is complemented by Cogent’s mating programme, WMS, PinPoint fertility analysis system and AI services, all of which offer customers the very best technical support and herd management advice.
“Add to that the company’s passionate sales force and Cogent has everything in place to ensure continued and consistent growth within the UK’s dairy farming industry.”
