Claas: Versatile Cargos dual-use wagons revealed

Claas has added a new product segment to its range: the Cargos combi-wagon or dual-use wagon. On the one hand, this type of wagon can be used as fully functional self-loading rotary wagon and, on the other, as a sturdy forage wagon for the grass or maize harvest.
The new Cargos is available from Claas in three sizes, the Cargos 9400 with 38 cubic metres, the Cargos 9500 with 44 cubic metres and the Cargos 9600 with 50 cubic metres. The payloads range from 24-34t depending on the axle variant – boogie or hydropneumatic, tandem or tridem. On tridem axles, the first and last axles are always steered.
The new loading assembly on the new Cargos models from Claas is a completely new development. The loading rotor achieves a theoretical length of cut 38 mm. An important innovation is the ability to lower the floor conveyor towards the loading rotor. The wagon floor drops by around 50cm towards the front in the direction of the loading rotor. This significantly reduces the driving forces art the rotor, which in turn significantly improves the loading performance.
An additional benefit of the lowered floor is the improved discharge pattern of Cargos. In the contrast to standard self-loading wagons, the harvested crop is not pressed upwards into the wagon through a steep and narrow loading duct, but instead discharged more towards the centre of the wagon. This also allows the rear of the wagon to be exploited much more effectively. This innovation is also inherently gentler on the forage itself.
Claas engineers came up with a special solution to allow the self-loading wagon to also operate as a fully functional forage wagon. The entire loading and cutting assembly can be removed very quickly in about 15 minutes. The assembly is simply placed on a small unit, the quick-release couplings and propeller shaft are released – and the job is done.
The opening to the loading space is sealed with two sheet metal inserts. The main advantage of the system is the reduction in weight and increase in payload of more than 2,800kg. All settings are retained during installation or removal.
The optimal proportioning package can also be installed and removed just as easily.
For convenient operation, the
Communicator Isobus terminal is available from Claas. This allows repetitive functions during loading, transport or unloading to be automated at the touch of a button. All of the functions are set up clearly and are easy to understand at a glance.
The automatic system can be adjusted using the Communicator. The system works with a pressure sensor-operated top panel and is regulated based on the power requirement of the rotor.
It is possible to steplessly preset the desired pressure or maximum torque value depending on the crop and moisture content. When the set value is reached, the floor conveyor moves back and changing forage conditions are also taken into account. The torque-controlled automatic loading system also improves the load discharge pattern.
The new Cargos is an efficient assistant, characterised in particular by its low power requirements and maximum exploitation of loading space. It is ideal for deployment in professional harvesting and crop transport logistics by contractors and large farms because the rapid installation and removal of the loading assembly and silage rollers ensure exceptional flexibility, with an extremely sturdy design and clever maintenance concept, the product meets all of the requirements of the professional user.
