Reco: New UK importer for Strautmann

Reco has purchased Strautmann UK Ltd and is now the sole importer of Strautmann machinery into the UK.
The deal, which was announced at Lamma 2010, gives Reco a new source of forage wagons to replace the Mengele brand that was sold to Lely in mid 2009, but also brings the Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire-based business a respected range of feeder wagons and muckspreaders.
The Strautmann UK business was established in January 2005 and has grown year-on-year, achieving significant sales across its whole product range. Before its sale, the company was 51% owned by the German-based manufacturer.
“We are extremely pleased to be working with Reco again and trust that this strategic partnership will continue to grow and develop the Strautmann machinery brand within the UK,” Dr Klaus Strautmann said.
Strautmann UK’s Neil Robinson and Edward Davies have joined Reco as part of the agreement. Their knowledge and experience of the product range will add to the existing expertise of Reco’s sales and service team, ensuring that the company continues to offer customers a first-class sales and support service.
The support network for machinery sales will move from Cumbria to Reco’s head office at Huntingdon. Spare parts support will then fall in line with Reco’s current 364-days/year service.
All back office functions will also move and all machinery sales from February 2010 will be conducted by the Reco sales team.
Reco managing director John Walls said the addition of the Strautmann range would complement and enhance the company’s existing offering of specialist machinery.
“It will enable us to offer a broader range of products to customers, while also increasing Strautmann’s dealer network, making the products more widely accessible throughout the UK,” he said.
