Krone: Ultima non-stop baler wrapper revealed

Krone’s new Ultima, which is claimed to be the world’s first fully automatic and non-stop baler wrapper, will be launched at Agritechnia 2012, taking place at Hanover, Germany in mid-November.
The combination, which is said to offer work rates up to 50 per cent higher than other baler wrappers on the market, has already been awarded a DLG Gold Medal that will be presented at the show.
The Ultima results from a combination of Krone innovations in round baler technology including the semi-variable fixed-chamber and the new tractor implement management (TIM) system that allows the baler to communicate with the tractor via Isobus. This means the operator can adapt tractor speed automatically to the load on the baler to prevent overload, as well as ensuring that the baler can perform a sufficient number of rotations to achieve maximum densities.
The crop collects inside the feed chamber while net-wrapping is in progress. The feed chamber has one feed belt at the top and one at the bottom. The variable form of the feed chamber means it also serves as a precompression chamber. The precompression chamber, semi-variable baling chamber and tractor implement management system combine to provide swift working and high bale densities.
Another new feature on the Ultima is higher ground clearance of the baling chamber, which allows the bale to drop right onto the wrapping table – another detail that speeds up the bale-wrap cycle.
