Lely: Baling and wrapping made faster and simpler

The high position of the bale chamber means exceptionally fast bale transfer. The tailgate can also be closed faster, and baling and wrapping begin sooner.

The new Lely Welger RPC445 Tornado features a fully automatically adjustable wrapping system. Shown
for the first time at Agritechnica 2009, it will be produced in a small series in 2010.
During net binding, the bale diameter is measured and passed on to the wrapping system. Due to the higher position of the baling chamber, the bale – assisted by the bale guidance – can roll on effortlessly to the wrapping table. Thus, an exceptionally fast bale transfer and, hence, a gain in time are ensured. The tailgate can be closed faster, so that baling can be resumed faster. As the tail gate closes, the ring wrapper makes optimal use of the space between the tailgate; the Tornado is busy wrapping even before the tailgate has fully closed.
The ring wrapper adjusts itself to the correct height, so that the film is always wrapped across the heart of the bale. At the same time, the wrapping system calculates the number of rotations that are needed to provide the bale with the required number of film layers.
The Lely Welger RPC445 Tornado does not only ensure unrivalled speed, but exceptional quality and reliability as well. The heart of this baler/wrapper – the familiar RP435 variable round baler – has proven its outstanding bale density, output and reliability for many years. The new 800mm cutting rotor adds a new dimension to that history. The generous set-up of the rotor – with six tines on each ring – features the Xtracut 25 chopping unit. The newly developed 2.25m wide pick-up without cam track steering has a minimum of turning parts, making the wrapper system even more reliable and maintenance-friendly.
Due to the new construction of the baler/wrapper combination, its transport width remains restricted to 2.80m and length to only 5.75m. In combination with the wide tyres and the single axle this results in an exceptionally manoeuvrable and versatile machine.
With its cutting-edge technology Lely responds to the increasing demand for variable baler/wrapper combinations. Due to its unrivalled flexibility, contractors and cattle farmers alike can easily adjust this machine to customer requirements and field conditions. Also due to the variable wrapping system, the bale is always properly wrapped while film costs are reduced to a minimum. In addition, the tremendous working speed of this machine saves contractors and cattle farmers a huge amount of time.
