Already a proven success with an eight per cent market share in Germany, Europe’s largest market, Fendt is now adding further features and developments, as well as the most modern software to offer exceptional ease of operation and maintenance, on its Katana 65 forager.
From the start the 650hp Fendt Katana 65 forage harvester set new standards with its fuel-saving SCR technology, the V-Cracker that permits fast changes between grass to maize and vice versa, as well as the novel drive concept offering both ECO/Power modes. Its Visio5 cab is unique and was developed specifically for the forager and includes the Fendt Variotronic operating interface.
Now Fendt is further improving the Katana 65 with features to ease operation, a range of three header types and an entry-level automatic steering system.
The latest Katana 65 is now equipped with a shorter discharge chute that reduces the distance to the trailers, which improves performance when harvesting grass. It has also added an additional work light for better visibility during night work.
Completely new plastic mudguards, which will not suffer from corrosion and can be removed without tools. Maintenance is also enhanced by a new bonnet that offers perfect access to the engine for easy cleaning. There’s also a new, lighter AdBlue tank that provides better access for unlocking the side panels. This is also made from corrosion-resistant plastic for trouble-free operation.
The Katana 65 can be equipped with a wide selection of headers for optimum operation in grass, maize or wholecrop silage with the production of the highest-quality chopped material. The recentl addition of the Kemper 460 plus option allows very tall maize crops to be handled with ease.
New software features on the 10.4-inch Varioterminal in the Visio5 cab simplify operation and allow operators to select the GPS header, pick-up, or 10-row maize header from the terminal as standard.
VarioGuide for the Variotronic terminal is now available as an option for the Katana 65 forage harvester. From spring 2014, VarioGuide will be available from Agco Parts as a retro-fit kit for all Katanas, with standard pre-installed wiring on the machine.
Moreover, three buttons on the terminal can be freely assigned to specific functions, with the option of also adding this facility to the ‘Enable steering’ and ‘Rotate discharge chute’ buttons. With this software feature, Fendt offers an absolutely unique selling point on the market. Newly integrated is also a manoeuvring mode, that, for example, makes hooking up the header easier and at the same time prevents damage to the grass sward during grassland operations.
