Weaving Machinery: SaMasz Mega combination cuts 11ha/hr

Topping the SaMasz range of grass equipment from Weaving Machinery are the new high-output MegaCut 860 and MegaCut 941 three-mower combination disc mowers.

The front three-point linkage mounted mower has a full 3m cutting width to ensure no standing crop is run over by the carrying tractor. The width of the cut swathe can be manually adjusted. The cutting unit is supported on a spring-assisted trailing parallel linkage to allow float of +250mm and -150mm for high-speed operation over uneven ground. A flow divider ensures synchronised movement of the two lifting rams using only one supply from the tractor. A mechanical lock secures the unit in transit.

The double-sided rear mowing unit extends the cutting widths to 8.6m or 9.4m, while providing an overlap with the front unit of 4cm. The hydraulic safety breakaway system lets the units fail back 30 degrees, while lifting them 70cm out of harms way with automatic resetting when the obstruction has been cleared. Spring assistance helps the centre pivot cutting units follow ground contours during high speed mowing.

The SaMasz 860 can cut 10ha/hr.

The MegaCut 860 weighs 2,580kg and requires a tractor of 150hp-plus to mow 10ha/hr. The MegaCut 940 weighs 2,890kg and will mow 11ha/hr on a 160hp tractor. The MegaCuts come with a two-year warranty and cost £19,600 and £22,730 plus VAT and carriage (prices correct at March 2014).
