Merlo UK has announced a new dealer and an expansion of territory and responsibility for an existing dealer to strengthen its dealer network in Scotland. The move follows the decision by the brand to end its relationship with HRN Tractors.
New to the Merlo dealer network is Fife-based J Low Agri Services. Established by Jimmy and Karen Low in 2002 as a tractor hire business, the firm quickly expanded into an agricultural engineering service business in the Fife area following Mr Low’s decision to become self-employed.
Now based off Junction 4 of the M90 at Kelty, J Low Agri Services looks set to continue its trend of consistent growth as a Merlo dealer.
Merlo UK’s national sales manager, Owen Buttle, said Fife was a key agricultural area of Scotland and he was extremely happy to have J Low Agri joining the Merlo network.
“Its location and facilities are well placed to serve farmers and contractors across the region with Merlo products and services,” he added.
“This is a great opportunity for us to grow our product offering to new and existing customers,” Mr Low said. “We look forward working with Merlo and further developing our business.”
Ross Agri Services, meanwhile, will extend its territory for Merlo agricultural products as well as adding representation for Merlo’s construction range through its newly formed RAS Plant Sales division.
Established by Bill and Ethel Ross in 1972 as a farm machinery hire business, Ross Agri Services quickly grew into a major player among Scottish dealers when it switched focus to machinery sales in 1976. It has been a Merlo dealer since 2020. The founder’s son, Martin, joined the business in 2000 and is now managing director.
RAS Plant Sales will operate alongside Ross Agri Services at its existing St Cyrus and Turriff depots, as well as a new site at Muir of Ord location. The move into construction equipment will allow the firm to offer Merlo’s Roto and Panoramic ranges.
“Having known Martin, Bill and Ethel for many years, I’m confident that the Merlo brand will only continue to grow further with the high level of customer support that RAS is renowned for,” the general manager of Merlo UK, Shaun Groom, said.
“We’re delighted to be expanding our Merlo trading area, not only representing the Merlo agricultural range, but now the Merlo construction product offering too,” Martin Ross added. “Having seen first hand the investments being made by Merlo Group, it’s a strong sign of its commitment for the long term.”
