Three years after it was launched in North America, Canada’s Can-Am has introduced its Traxter 6×6 DPS HD10 to the UK market. Prices start at about 20,000 pounds excluding VAT.
Known as the Can-Am Defender on the other side of the Atlantic, the six-wheel-drive side-by-side vehicle is claimed to enhance the comfort and control of the conventional 4×4 Can-Am Traxter with help from its longer wheelbase and triple-axle design that spreads the weight of the vehicle so that it treads carefully across different terrains. This ability is complemented by the performance of its 82hp V-twin liquid-cooled Rotax engine.
The newcomer provides owners with a class-leading towing capacity of 1,360kg and a payload of 771kg. An extended cargo box helps it carry more goods and equipment.
The Traxter 6×6’s 40-litre fuel tank allows it to spend many hours at work before refuelling. In addition, the SSV’s roomy cockpit has been designed by Can-Am with functionality and comfort in mind. This is demonstrated by the cab pillars being pushed forward, an open-dash configuration and a truck-inspired bench seat that accommodates up to three adults.
