Case IH has presented a Magnum tractor with Raven Autonomy that the company says is a milestone in harvest solutions. Featuring an autonomous tractor and grain trailer, it provides farmers with new levels of productivity.

By integrating Raven Autonomy technology, it allows the farmer to monitor, synchronise and command a driverless tractor from a tablet in the combine cab. Along with labour savings, in-field testing shows reduced grain spillage and fewer errors.

“Integrating Raven’s industry-leading driverless agriculture technology with the power of the Magnum has provided a tremendously beneficial solution to harvest applications, particularly in today’s labour-constrained market,” Case IH’s global director of precision technology, Chris Dempsey, said. “This achievement is another strong result for Case IH as we continue the path to autonomy. With driver-assisted and driverless solutions allowing farmers to focus on higher-order tasks, autonomous equipment and technology are rapidly advancing the way they manage their operations.”

The Case IH Magnum tractor with Raven Autonomy allows the combine operator to completely control the vehicle speed, combine-tractor synchronisation and the unloading of the crop into the grain trailer. To get started, the combine operator must set field boundaries and staging locations. When commanded, the tractor uses GPS and a perception system to automatically manoeuvre around obstacles, such as fences and unharvested crop. The tractor will return to a predetermined unloading area when the desired task is complete. The entire operation is conducted with just one operator in the combine.

The intuitive system helps farmers manage their fleet efficiently by tracking their combines’ work in real-time, tractor and combine performance analytics, fuel status and run time, and real-time monitoring of all their machines’ locations.

This powerful new solution is the result of collaboration between Case IH and Raven Industries, a pioneer in agriculture technology that was acquired by CNH Industrial in November 2021.
