The latest range of Carraro Agricube Pro specialist vineyard and orchard tractors has been launched with FPT’s Stage V F28 diesel engine. It’s the first time the power unit has been used in an agricultural application.

Carraro and FPT have been working together since 2010, and the engine maker has supplied more than 25,000 industrial engines to the tractor maker for use on no fewer than 13 tractor platforms. The collaboration has now been consolidated with the transition to Stage V and the adoption of the F28 solution for the entire Agricube range, with power outputs of 72hp, 92hp and 102hp respectively for the Agricube Pro 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5 vineyard and orchard models.

Designed to produce up to 102 hp at 2300 rpm and 415 Nm at 1500 rpm, this 2.8 litre engine can deliver the same performance level as a 3.4 litre, but only takes up as much space under the bonner as a traditional 2.0 litre unit. These unique benefits in terms of compactness and high power density, combined with impressive fuel efficiency, explain its selection by Carraro for its new specialist tractors intended to operate between high-value rows of vines or trees with attachments that have intensive hydraulic power demands.

The F28’s entire exhaust gas after-treatment system (diesel oxidation catalyst, selective catalytic reduction and diesel particulate filter) is contained in a single module underneath the bonnet, to further reduce dimensions and ensure perfect visibility for the driver.

Single-side servicing and a 600-hour oil change interval mean easier maintenance and lower running costs.

Designed to be multi-energy, the F28 can operate on diesel and is also prefitted for natural gas and for hybrid applications, guaranteeing optimal performances in any condition.

Carraro’s Agricube Pro is produced in six models and 48 basic set-ups. The company said it continues its tradition for configurability and versatility.
