Maize seed breeding company KWS UK has announced the appointment of Andrew Cook as its new maize product and technical sales manager. Mr Cook will play a key role in providing expert advice and developing new KWS maize varieties specifically for the UK market.
Brought up on the family dairy unit at Wedmore, Somerset, Mr Cook spent several years as a dairy farm consultant with Promar, covering all aspects of management from nutrition to finance. He has also worked for seed company Germinal GB as area sales manager for the South of England.
Mr Cook, who joins the KWS UK maize team at Lydney, Gloucestershire, said producers across the range of farm enterprises were facing unprecedented hikes in input prices.
“Fuel and fertiliser costs are having a major effect on the bottom line,” he added. “We’re committed to producing varieties that will maximise yield potential per hectare, filling clamps with a quality product.”
