Zetor Tractors’ new Stage V Proxima tractors have been seen for the first time at the Agrotech 2022 show at Kielce, Poland. They’ll reach the first customers before the end of the year.
The updated Proxima Series has undergone several innovations and functional improvements, but the most important change is under the bonnet. Here, power for the 97 to 125hp tractors is now provided by a four-cylinder turbocharged Deutz engine that meets Stage V emissions standards.
The first Proxima was launched in 2004, and since then more than 36,000 of the tractors have been produced and put to work around the world. Currently one of the most popular Zetor models, the update for its 18th birthday is aimed at making the series even more attractive for customers.
“The most fundamental change is the transition to Stage V emissions compatibility with the 3.6-litre TCD four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine from Deutz AG,” the technical director of Zetor Tractors, Marek Buchar, said. “Compliance is ensured by a diesel particulate filter (DPF) together with exhaust gas recirculation, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC).
“The engine is also now equipped with a modern common-rail injection system, and at first glance most customers will notice the new exhaust pipe and significantly smoother and quieter engine operation.”
There will continue to be three Proxima model lines available from the Czech Republic-based manufacture: the CL, GP, and the most powerful HS. The updated tractor offers, among other things: improved controls on the dashboard; an AdBlue tank with a capacity of 21 litres; and a transmission oil clogging indicator that’s easily accessible under the cab and allows the operator to easily and quickly check the oil purity.
“In front of the cab, there’s a newly available compressed air outlet,” Mr Buchar added, “and on request the Proxima can be equipped with an external lockable toolbox that has improved fixing and higher load capacity.”
Zetor’s Proxima is popular for its simplicity, reliability and economy. The newly updated series is still built on these pillars, but now meets new requirements and needs of the brand’s customers.
“Tractors in the Proxima model range have always been reliable and versatile helpers,” Zetor’s director of sales and marketing, Petr Konštacký, said. “We believe that the premiere of the updated tractor will be successful and we look forward to presenting it to more customers at this year’s trade fairs.”
