Swedish trailer manufacturer Metsjö has launching a new terminal trailer with adjustable load height for facilities in need of loading from ground level to loading dock height up to 1.4m. The trailer has a load capacity is 32 cubic meters and a maximum payload of 7,000kg.

The trailer can load or unload at docks both directly behind as well as to the left and right thanks to drop down sides on the 2.35m wide rear truck plane. The folding side flaps are built in high-strength steel to withstand loads from heavy trucks, but are easy to lift thanks to gas springs.

The new trailer, that can be towed by various vehicles such as trucks, loaders and tractors, is operated by radio remote control. When the load height is raised or lowered, the trailer will – for safety reasons – in both cases be tilted very slightly forward to prevent any unsecured goods from moving backwards. When the trailer has reached the desired load height, it will automatically level itself to the horizontal load position. If the driver wants, the load height can then be adjusted further.

The trailer, which is also road legal, has rubber protection at the rear for easier reversing towards the loading dock and plexiglass at the front for good supervision. The trailer is equipped with internal and external work lights and has brakes on all wheels. The load area is 7.5m x 1.8m x 2.4m with straight sides and attachment points in the roof.

“Many industrial areas have facilities with varying load heights, so we’ve now developed a terminal trailer that easily and smoothly enables transport between different loading dock heights at facilities,” the CEO of Metsjö, Anders Ivarsson, said. “The technology for raising and lowering the load surface is in itself a further development of our MetaMove livestock trailer series where we have developed good experience of regulating heavy loads vertically.”
