With more than 4,000 models sold, the Lemken’s Diamant 11 has been the stand-out performer from the company’s plough range, and that’s reason enough for the plough specialist to make its successor, the Diamant 16, even better in terms of fuel consumption and operating comfort. As a result, the new model features OptiLine, the first and to date only adjustment system for this type of plough designed to prevent lateral pull during ploughing. This new feature has already been awarded a DLG Silver medal. The range of applications for this plough has also been broadened to cater for larger tractors with greater pulling power.
OptiLine compensates lateral pull arising from the plough’s asymmetrical position behind the tractor by having a pressure-controlled cylinder transfer additional torque to the tractor. This adjustment system shifts the tractor/plough traction line towards the centre of the rear axle and thus delivers fuel savings of up to 10 per cent. Demands on the operator are also reduced, as there’s no need for counter-steering.
The proven traction booster, which has now been expanded by a feature for reducing pressure at the headlands, contributes to even greater fuel savings. This allows higher system pressures, which result in even more weight being shifted from the plough and front tractor axle to the rear tractor axle. As a result, the tractor/plough combination gains even greater pulling force.
The dimensions of all main bearings have been enlarged and the onland version has also been updated, allowing the implement to be used with tractors with an external width of up to 4.0m. This ensures that the wheels always maintain a sufficient distance from the furrow edges, even in difficult conditions. The continuously variable hydraulic working depth adjustment is yet another innovation that’s also available directly from the tractor seat for special operating comfort. The proven Hydromatic overload protection ensures disruption-free ploughing in stony soil conditions.
The new Diamant 16 will be available with Dural or DuraMaxx plough bodies, and up to nine furrows, from 2019.
