Lemken: Optidisc 25 coulter bar provides flexible sowing options

Lemken’s new Optidisc 25 solo coulter bar now provides farmers with yet another sowing option. The coulter bar can be combined with the Solitair 23 front hopper and a power harrow to form an agile, compact drilling combination with optimal weight distribution, even when working with a smaller tractor. As a result, Lemken now offers a full modular range of sowing implements that can be combined with its front hopper, which can of course, also be combined with the Azurit precision seed drill for applying fertiliser.

Lemken already integrated the OptiDisc double disc coulter in its seed drill technology several years ago. The double disc coulters in the new coulter bar are guided in parallel and feature maintenance-free rubber suspension bearings as another advantage that ensures high durability and a long service life. The coulter and depth control roller adjust independently to uneven ground. Seed depth and coulter pressure can also be adjusted separately. As a result, the Optidisc coulters consistently and precisely deposit seeds at constant depths, even at high forward speeds. The depth control roller presses seeds into the soil to ensure rapid, even emergence.

The coulter pressure in the new coulter bar can be adjusted either mechanically (to up to 45kg) or hydraulically from the tractor cab (to up to 70kg).

The Optidisc 25 impresses with a comfortable tramline mechanism that is integrated in the distributor and allows a range of different tramline rhythms. Two perforated rings are arranged one on top of the other in the distributor heads, which are optimally located directly above the coulter bar. The lower ring is used for regular sowing, while the outlets in the upper ring are blocked as required. This ring is then hydraulically lowered for the tramline mechanism. As a result, the system does not require any seed return and always distributes seeds evenly. The electronically controlled metering unit speed additionally ensures a uniform transverse distribution at all times. Simple cartridge changes in the distributor moreover allow track widths and tramline row numbers to be adjusted with ease.

The Solitair 23 front hopper has a large 1,900 litre capacity and features a slim design for good visibility. Four metering units ensure that seeds are conveyed with high levels of precision.

The new coulter bar will be available as a folding model with 4 or 4.50 metres working width from 2019.
