County Laois-based Bailey Machinery Sales Ltd has taken on the agency for Tractor Bumpers for the entire island of Ireland.
Made in The Netherlands, the Tractor Bumper has been designed with road safety in mind, as every year, there are an average 16 deaths and more than 100 serious injuries resulting from accidents involving agricultural vehicles in the country.
Accidents involving agricultural vehicles are three times more deadly than accidents involving a car, and with tractors not only working around the farm, but also on public roads, 26 per cent of Dutch accidents in which agricultural vehicles are involved happen in urban areas.
Tractor design means it can be hard for other road users to estimate the width of the vehicle as it approaches, especially on small roads and in the dark. The Tractor Bumper clearly highlights the maximum width of the tractor for other road users, thus drastically improving safety.
Also, in a head-on collision between a tractor and another road user, there’s a greater risk that the other vehicle will go under the tractor wheels because they’re not shielded. The Tractor Bumper helps to protect against this. When set up correctly, the underside of Tractor Bumper should be 40cm from the ground, the same height as that of a car bumper.
The Tractor Bumper is a universal fit for any front linkage, and is fully adjustable to suit different tractor and tyre widths. For added safety, the bumper features a unique break-back protection system that prevents it becoming damaged in the event it gets caught while reversing.

All bumpers are finished with powder-coated paint for a lasting finish, and feature LED marker lights as well as red/white reflective panels as standard. Various options are also available, such as an integrated 135-litre toolbox, extra lights, guide bars, jack stands and ballast weights from 600kg up to 2,000kg.
