Maschio Gaspardo UK launched its new Bufalo flail mower, a heavy-duty mulcher suitable for use on tractors of up to 200hp, at the Lamma Show. It has the flexibility to be mounted on a front or rear linkage; is available in working widths of 2.5m, 2.8m and 3.0m; and can be offset hydraulically by up to 50cm.
“Maschio flail mowers have gained a good reputation and become very popular since the range was introduced to the UK market in 2012,” Maschio’s David Day explained. “This latest addition is ideal for high-horsepower tractors.
“It can be used on its own, or can be front-mounted in conjunction with a fully offset rear-mounted Giraffona to give a cutting width of just over 5m in one pass.”
The Bufalo has a 1,000rpm twin-input gearbox with a six-spline PTO shaft, and the height of the gearbox is adjustable.
As with other flail mowers in the Maschio range, a double-skin hood (5mm) prevents stone damage and this protection helps confer a longer life. A double counter-blade improves chop length and mulching effect. Reliable vibration-free operation is achieved due to the hammer flails being helically positioned on the rotor, thereby improving balance.
The 2.8m Bufalo flail mower on display on the Maschio Gaspardo UK stand at Lamma 2015 weighs-in at 1,270kg and retails at £9,038 (price correct at January 2015).
