Grangemouth-based LubiQ has launched a new service to make it easier to quickly access smaller quantities of renewable HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) diesel fuel by supplying 10-litre or 20-litre cans, or 205-litre pallet loads, anywhere in the UK.
Offering a reduction of 80% in particulate matter and as high as 90% less net carbon emissions, HVO is extremely practical as any diesel engine can use it, and it can be safely mixed with conventional diesel.
“Many vehicle fleets, plant and agricultural machines are proving the benefits both environmentally and technically with a far cleaner burn,” LubiQ’s Ben Hardwick said. “However, it’s not always easy to obtain in smaller quantities which is where we can help.
“Using HVO renewable diesel saves about 2kg/litre of CO2, so carbon savings quickly mount up; and as not all operators can immediately switch to electric vehicles, HVO is a good option that also banishes fuel and DPF filter problems, with notably smoother quiet running.”
