Kuhn has revealed its new Axent 90.1 trailed fertiliser spreader with a hopper capacity of 9,400 litres. Not only can it spread up to 400kg/ha across 36m at more than 20km/hr with precision, it can also work at widths of up to 50m.
It’s equipped with the company’s Axis Power Pack spreading module with mechanical drive, so a low hydraulic flow is sufficient to power the conveyor belt. With these features it’s adapted to a wide range of tractors from 180hp.
The Axent 90.1 fertiliser spreader boasts numerous high-tech features: Electronic Massflow Control (EMC); Coaxial Distribution Adjustment (CDA); Varispread 8 or Pro; and fully automatic conveyor belt. A winning combination to ensure that crops get the right dose of fertiliser and costs are kept under control.
Exclusive EMC technology makes it possible to adjust the application rate, independently and automatically on the left and right, every second. The idea is simple; fertiliser flow is measured on each disc so that in the event of clogging or blockage the flow rate of the outlet concerned is corrected immediately and automatically to provide the right dose of fertiliser on each side.
The CDA distribution system makes spreading more precise and constant, even when there are variations in application rate, working width, and ground speed. An ultra-slow agitator (17rpm around 360 degrees) feeds the discs and is gentle with the granules. The specific design of the metering outlets, in three points, ensures that the spreading discs are supplied progressively and uniformly. In addition, an outlet chute guides the fertiliser to the spreading discs to ensure an accurate drop point.
The Varispread equipment allows adjusting the working width directly from the tractor’s ISObus terminal. With Varispread 8 the rate of fertiliser can be reduced progressively on eight sections, four on each side. Varispread Pro section control consists of two electric motors, called SpeedServos, that are 2.5 times faster than a traditional cylinder. The SpeedServos enable high-speed and continuous working width adjustment by modifying the drop points and the fertiliser application rate over one-metre sections. This results in the spread fan being perfectly adapted to the shape of the plot, with optimum cover, even at high speeds.
A fully automatic conveyor is located in a pre-chamber above the spreading discs. This means that the driver doesn’t need to activate it to supply the Axis Power Pack with fertiliser. Precise and regular fertiliser supply to the spreading modules guaranteed.
The Axent 90.1 fertiliser spreader also boasts numerous comfort features that improve the user experience. The hopper is equipped with silent block suspension. Hopper vibrations are reduced, and spreading is more precise and regular. Driving comfort is ensured in the field and on the road.
Four weighing cells make it possible to monitor the amount of fertiliser in the hopper continuously and directly on the ISObus terminal or with the Spreadset application on a smartphone. A real advantage in logistics optimisation and for anticipating refilling.
In terms of electronics, the machine is controlled with the CCI 800 or CCI 1200 ISObus terminals, or any other ISObus terminal available on the farm. These terminals have numerous functions such as application-rate modulation with application maps, biomass sensor, and automatic section control with Varispread 8 or Pro. It’s also possible to use an Aux-N joystick like the CCI A3 with colour touch screen. Kuhn Connect solutions and the MyKuhn portal, meanwhile, optimise the user experience by enabling data to be transferred from the machine to the farm office, for example.
The first Axent 90.1 spreaders will be available for spring 2024.
