French manufacturer Laforge has introduced a new hydraulically driven PTO designed specifically for John Deere 8R tractors.
The company says the unit’s advantages include a choice of rotation speed, continuously adjustable from 540 to 1,000rpm, by adjusting the feed oil flow, as well as a choice of the direction of rotation during installation on the tractor.
The ability to separate the PTO speed from the engine speed can result in significant fuel savings, especially for applications with front hoppers, spraying systems or front fertiliser spreaders.
Launched after three years of development, the new hydraulic PTO has been designed for hard work in demanding conditions. It has the capacity to operate, for example, a 3.5m mower conditioner at 15km/hr in a forage density of more than 5t dm/ha.
The front PTO is currently available for all versions of John Deere 8R series tractors manufactured since 2011 as long as they have a hydraulic flow of more than 200 lit/min.
Units for other tractor models may be developed depending on demand.
