Case IH has expanded its 55hp to 120hp tractor range with the addition of three new Farmall C Selection models, the 100C, 110C, and 120C. These new options, rated at 101hp, 110hp and 117hp respectively, increase the versatility of the Farmall family by offering powerful, heavy-duty and easy-to-use tractors with Powershuttle transmissions.
The new range completes the Farmall C family that also includes Farmall C Advanced versions with Active Drive 2 transmission to target more demanding customers in terms of comfort and specifications.
Incorporating common-rail fuel injection and four-valves per cylinder technology, the new four-cylinder, 3.6-litre FPT F5 engine is said to be very responsive. It provides outstanding maximum torque at lower engine speed, 450Nm, 490Nm and 506Nm in the Farmall 100C, Farmall 110C and Farmall 120C models respectively, while the excellent 46 per cent torque rise provides strong lugging ability in high load situations.
Despite its considerable additional power and torque, the FPT F5 is extremely fuel efficient, which combined with larger 130 litre fuel and 14.4 litre AdBlue tanks allows more work to be completed before refuelling is required. Another significant benefit is the 600-hour service interval that maximises uptime and reduces ownership costs.
The engine’s maintenance-free After Treatment System (ATS) is claimed to be the most efficient solution for a low-hp tractor. Developed to meet Stage V legislation, the Compact Hi-eSCR2 emissions reduction technology requires no filter replacement or mechanical cleaning. It integrates a diesel oxidation catalyst with a diesel particulate filter to ensure that a high level of particulate matter is removed at low operating temperatures, plus a selective catalyst reduction system.
These components are contained in a single compact layout under the engine hood, a neat design that avoids the need for external components while allowing easy access to oil and engine filters on the left side of the tractor. It also maximises ground clearance, making row-crop and hay-making operations safer, providing excellent forward visibility, and allowing fast loader installation.
As standard, Farmall C Selection models incorporate an efficient, durable 12×12 40km/hr Powershuttle transmission. Four gears in each of three ranges allow precise speed selection, while a hydraulic shuttle lever avoids the need to use the clutch to change direction, increasing productivity on any task involving repeated forward/reverse movements, such as loader work. A 20×20 creeper transmission is available for even more precise speed matching in particularly demanding applications.
Farmall C Selection models feature a large, heavy-duty front axle that increases the gross vehicle weight to 7.0 tonnes and the axle capacity to 5.2 tonnes, with an additional 20cm of width flange to flange, making this tractor ideal for the heaviest loader applications. The specification also includes an electro-hydraulic differential lock and adjustment-free annular disc brakes, while automatic engagement of the four-wheel-drive system under braking is available for improved performance and safety.
The new Farmall C Selection can be mounted with 540/65R38 rear tyres that bring additional value to a utility tractor by increasing ground clearance to avoid damaging specific crops and improving efficiency when operating at maximum speed during transport.
Rear linkage lift capacity is up to 5,000kg, a figure normally associated with larger tractors. Case IH Lift-O-Matic Plus rear lift control offers fast raising and lowering of implements to a pre-set position on headlands, together with proportional regulation of lift position, while adjustable lift rod ends allow quick, easy attachment of implements. The smooth, self-modulating independent three-speed PTO (540/540E/1,000) also provides ECO/ground speed options and is equipped with electro-hydraulic engagement to reduce operator effort.
Among the options that can be specified are a mechanical front linkage that can lift 1,400kg; a front 1,000rpm PTO; and an Extra Flow pump providing high hydraulic flow capacity – 82 lit/min compared with the standard 63 lit/min. The additional oil volume improves loader cycle times and is beneficial when operating linkage-mounted implements through up to three remote outlets.
Farmall C models can be specified with factory-installed brackets and hydraulics, making it very easy to fit one of the Case IH’s versatile U or T Series of the Case IH L front loader range. Using a plug-and-play design, these provide a maximum lift height of 4.0m and lift up to 2,391kg, ideal for all handling tasks.
The new six-pillar cab has six external work lights and wide steps that provide easy access to the operator platform. Once inside, the view from the flat-floor, single-door cab is panoramic through 5.2 square metres of glass, and with an internal volume of 2.05 cubic metres this spacious, comfortable air-conditioned working environment has a maximum sound level of just 76db.
All controls are positioned to the operator’s right, the large, air-suspended seat optimises ride comfort, and there’s a standard-fit USB socket and ‘phone holder. Options include an opening windscreen and side windows, together with a high-visibility roof hatch.
