Case IH dealership JG Paxton & Sons Ltd is to take over J Wood & Son (Bilsdale Ploughs) Ltd to expand its business in the North-east and Yorkshire.
Established in 1853, Paxtons is an independent, family-owned agricultural machinery dealership currently operating four depots at Pity Me, Northallerton, Alnwick and Bentham.
Paxtons has bought the J Wood & Sons business at Kirkbymoorside following the retirement of former owner Mark Bentley. It will continue the Case IH franchise in the area, and all of Woods’ staff are joining the business.
“We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all Woods’ customers to Paxtons,” managing director Peter Tallentire said. “Mark Bentley was keen to find the right business to take over J. Wood & Sons to continue to serve his customers in this area. As a family-owned and run business, we take this responsibility very seriously.
“Will Paxton and I pride ourselves on being available to anyone who wishes to speak to us and are very much looking forward to working with customers in the Kirkbymoorside area. On the completion of the takeover, Paxtons will offer Case IH, JCB, Kverneland, Vicon, Bednar and Ktwo from the branch.”
Commenting on the development, Case IH’s dealer relationship manager for the UK and Ireland, Jon May, said the Paxtons team was well-known in the North-east and this further expansion of its business strengthened Case IH’s presence in this important farming community.
