The Rousseau range of electric verge and hedge cutters, which was launched in 2017 and immediately awarded an award for innovation at the Sima Show, has been widely recognised for the fuel savings it provides.
The French company has set a sales target of 100 for E-machines delivered during 2022, and to help reach this figure has added a new model – the E-Thenor 615PA – to its range.
Like all of Rousseau’s E-TP electric verge and hedge cutters, the conventional hydraulic power transmission system has been replaced by electric components to drive the rotor. The new equipment is claimed to reduce average fuel consumption by 35 per cent.
The replacement of the hydraulic system for driving the rotor head eliminates the risk of pollution if an oil leak was to occur, and absence of a battery eliminates the sensitive issue of recycling.
When using the electric verge and hedge cutters, the engine speed of the carrying vehicle is much lower while performing the same work, reducing the energy consumption, as well as wear on the tractor’s components.
Maintenance costs are lower with electrical drive systems than those that rely on hydraulics. There’s additional comfort for the driver as noise emissions are also significantly lower (-10dB with a shredding unit and up to -20 dB with a cutter bar).
Rousseau’s new E-Thenor 615PA has a maximum horizontal reach of 6.15m, a maximum vertical reach of 6.42m and a 1,200mm cutter head. It offers the same kinematics as the company’s widely proven hydraulic cousin, the Thenor 610PA.
