German start-up Crop.Zone, Australian crop protection specialist Nufarm and Dutch equipment supplier Kamps de Wild have announced an exclusive cooperation to market the innovative Nucrop hybrid electric weed control and dessication system in the Netherlands.
The novel weed control solution, that was developed by Crop.Zone, uses a conductive liquid (Volt.fuel) and electric power (Volt.apply) to destroy unwanted plants and weeds. Kamps de Wild will be the exclusive sales and support provider of the Volt.apply system in the country, while Nufarm will be responsible for selling Volt.fuel through its Dutch channel partners in crop protection.
The Nucrop solution for desiccation and non-selective burn-down applications enjoyed a very successful test programme with Dutch farmers during 2021. This year’s full launch in The Netherlands will initially focus on potato desiccation, with weed control being the next step.
Crop.Zone’s Nucrop solution is a sustainable alternative to chemical herbicides. It provides a reliable solution for controlling weeds and desiccating crops without residues. This means there are no waiting times for the degradation of chemical treatments, maximising producers’ flexibility and consumer acceptance while minimising risks for the food industry and retailers.
“We’re delighted to have found a strategic partner with more than 100 years of experience in farm equipment and a strong relationship with growers,” the CEO of Crop.Zone, Dirk Vandenhirtz said. “We’re very much looking forward to working with the Kamps de Wild team.”
The managing director of Kamps de Wild, Dick Melessen, added that as a distributor of agricultural machinery, he saw the market for weed control changing towards new ways of working, with chemical pesticides being used differently.
“With this revolutionary system, we’re able to create a sustainable future for our customers,” he said. “We’re really looking forward to introducing and distributing this new and environmentally friendly technology together with Nufarm and Crop.Zone.”
