Calf rearers now have even more choice of Milk Bar feeder design after Dairy Spares launched a four-teat open feeder that’s easier to fill and clean than the equivalent compartmentalised model. The teats are also spaced further apart in the new feeder, allowing more room for the suckling calves and reducing competition.
The patented design of the Milk Bar teats ensures calves must suckle hard to extract the milk, which aids digestion and helps prevent scours. It also ensures calves remain on the same teat throughout each feed.
The advantage of a compartmentalised model is that it helps all calves receive their full ration of milk, so the new open feeder is ideal for older and larger calves, where they benefit from having more space.
The new four-teat open Milk Bar feeder has a lower cost of £109.15+VAT (correct at December 2019), compared to the compartmentalised equivalent at £135+VAT.
