Amazone: New features introduced with Pantera 4503 sprayer

Amazone’s new Pantera 4503 self-propelled sprayer.

The Pantera 4503 self-propelled sprayer from Amazone is now Stage V exhaust emissions compliant, as well as introducing the company’s new Comfort-Pack 1 control system and an innovative new boom guidance system.

At the heart of the new machine is a proven six-cylinder Deutz engine with a power output of 218hp. The in-line, turbocharged and charge-air cooled engine has an intelligent ECO management mode that offers minimal fuel consumption. If additional power is required, for instance when working on steep slopes, then Power mode is available to the driver.

The Pantera 4503 meets the EU Stage V emissions standard using exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF). Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and AdBlue complete the package, with a 20-litre tank for the additive positioned next to the 230-litre diesel tank. AdBlue consumption is approximately 2.5 per cent of the fuel consumption.

The use of Comfort-Pack 1 on the new Pantera, with the new TwinTerminal 3.0 installed on the operator panel, makes the operation of the machine even easier. The unit’s SmartCenter, including an induction bowl, ports for suction filling and the complete operator station is hidden away under the cover on the left hand side of the sprayer. As standard, this includes automatic fill stop for suction filling, and as an option this is available on the bowser fill port as well. The desired fill level can be entered either in the cab via the ISObus terminal, or at the operator station through the TwinTerminal.

During spray application, the agitator control regulates the agitation intensity depending on the tank fill level. And once the spray job is complete, Comfort-Pack 1 facilitates automatic cleaning, which can be controlled remotely from the cab.

Alternatively, the Pantera can be equipped with Comfort-Pack 2, which includes an additional fresh water pump. This option allows a completely automatic cleaning procedure with continuous internal cleaning, and it also means that both the spray tank and the fresh water tank can be automatically filled via a single hose.

Amazone’s new ContourControl boom control, with its active SwingStop pendulum limitation for boom widths up to 40m, is now available for the Pantera 4503. ContourControl can allow the boom tips to angle below the horizontal and thus always maintains the correct distance to the target surface.

Whereas ContourControl is excellent in managing vertical boom movement, SwingStop optimises horizontal movement, which is particularly useful with wider booms. These precise, hydraulically operated systems react instantly to guide the boom and allow higher operational speeds during application. In conjunction with electric AmaSelect individual nozzle control, unprecedented levels of output can be achieved at the highest degree of precision.

In addition, the Super-L2 and the new Super-L3 booms – in conjunction with ContourControl boom control – include the new Flex-fold system that makes the folding procedure 40 per cent quicker. This significantly reduces non-productive time during field changes.

Further changes to the latest Pantera 4503 include new dust-proof storage compartments under the cab access ladder, and new LED rear lights.
