Denmark’s Samson Group has taken over the activities of the French company Pichon Industries, which produces a wide range of slurry tankers, implements and muck spreaders at two factories, one in France and one in Poland.
The Glerup family, which owns Viborg-based Samson, wants the company to become a leading European player, and the acquisition of Pichon Industries means the Samson Group is now the European largest manufacturer of slurry tankers.
“The two companies complement each other very well, both with regards to products, production facilities and geographical distribution,” Samson Agro CEO Lars Henriksen said.
The two brands and their product portfolio complement each other in the best possible way. The products from the factory in Viborg are mainly aimed at contractors and large animal operations, with focus on efficiency and capacity. Pichon’s products are mainly designed for small- and medium-sized farms and medium-sized contractors. Pichon produces slurry tankers from five cubic metres to 30 cubic metres using vacuum filling, while Samson starts its range at 16 cubic metres and goes up to 35 cubic metres based around its unique ejector filling technique. It’s a similar picture with muckspreaders: here, Pichon starts at eight cubic metres, while Samson’s newly developed US series goes up to 40 cubic metres.
Three factories in three countries
Samson has been increasing turnover and volume for several years, which has means that its factory facilities at Viborg will face capacity challenges in the foreseeable future. With the acquisition of Pichon Industries’ factories in France and Poland, that issue has been solved, as both the factory in France and Poland have free capacity. The French site is only few years old, while the factory in Poland was thoroughly modernized in recent years.
With the products from the two brands, the Samson Group has become a full-line manufacturer of slurry tankers, implements and manure spreaders for all categories of livestock farmers and agricultural contractors in Europe.
