Metsjö: Hook-lift trailers with air pressure regulated wheels launched

Swedish manufacturer Ivarssons has launched a new range of its Metsjö hooklifters and wagons with tyre inflation and deflation system that adjusts the air pressure to minimise soil compaction effect in field and maximise fuel consumption on road.

The new air pressure regulation system can be used anywhere, and the aim is that the trailer should run with high tyre pressure on road and low tyre pressure in the field. The pressure is changed quickly by a compressor and air tanks system on the trailer. It is offered on Metsjö’s MetaQ, MetaDump and MetaFlex models.

The new Hook-lift trailers with adaptable air pressure systems, the MetaFlex 50-65 and 60-75, are based on the company’s new-generation shifting system with 22 per cent increased capacity handling 6.0-7.5m containers. On the MetaFlex 60-75, the biggest hooklifter in the family, the oil flow increases during the switching phase, resulting in a 50 per cent faster shifting process.

Compared with standard hooklifters on the market, the MetaFlex 60-75 shifts containers 40 per cent faster. The new Hook-lift trailers also have the possibility to easily change the height of the hook between 1,450 and 1,570mm, which means that in principle all containers built according to European standards can be shifted.

Air reservoirs on the Metsjö trailers help speed up the inflation process.

A new design on the tower allows for more space for hydraulic equipment such as forks for hydraulic coupling, which are now encapsulated and thus better protected. Even the drawbar, which is built in high-strength material, now has more space for optional equipment and encapsulates the hydraulics.

“With the new Hook-lift trailers and wagons, we can offer farmers and contractors a more lenient transportation in the field and a more efficient means of transport on the road,” Anders Ivarsson said. “We’re able to fit the new air pressure regulation system in a way that doesn’t significantly increase the weight of the trailers. This option will suit many farmers who’re concerned about soil compaction.”
