Berthoud’s new generation of Hermes tractor-mounted sprayers features a stylishly modern and compact design, reducing overhang by up to 30cm compared to the models it replaces.
Its close coupling, optimised weight and centre of gravity, improve the weight distribution on the tractor, thereby ensuring better balance. This allows the Hermes to be used on smaller tractors.
The new Hermes is available with a choice of three tank sizes – 800, 1,000 and 1,200 litres – and a new range of ALSR rear-folding booms of 15, 16 or 18 metres. This new boom, with three steel arms, benefits from Berthoud’s wealth of experience.
Suspension on an Axiale central pivot system gives this boom excellent stability and good performance on slopes, turns and headlands. Robust and compact, due to its “L” structure, means the sprayer has a road width of 2.55m.
Berthoud is unique in the world of sprayer manufacturing in that it designs and develops its own dedicated components and controls; the company’s EcoMatic controls complete Berthoud’s new package. The main innovation lies in the assembly of function valves fitted directly to the body of the Gama spray pump (101 lit/min or 130 lit/min options) and this unique control mechanism.
Usually, function valves are separate and connected to the pump by a set of pipes, which results in substantial residual volumes as well as multiple valves, depending on the number of functions. But the new single control used here offers simple and economic functions for the operator. EcoMatic also allows the operator to follow a simple, pre-defined sequential rinse procedure.
