McConnel has showcased the world’s first all-electric, tractor-mounted Power Arm at Agritechnica 2017. The company revealed its prototype e-Swingtrim at the event, giving customers a first-look at this new technology.
Built around the proven Swingtrim platform, the new machine replaces all traditional hydraulic components with a 12-volt electrical system. Arm movement are powered by electric actuators instead of hydraulic rams, while the cutterbar is powered by an electric motor.
Benefits of the new system include:
- compatibility with power units with limited or no hydraulic systems;
- lower horsepower requirements;
- ability to work in environmentally sensitive areas with no risk of oil spillage or contamination;
- consistent power supply; and
- enhanced durability.
The e-Swingtrim will be available with McConnel’s new compact Power Arm control system – Mini motion – that offers the fingertip precision of a progressive proportional joystick.
“The e-Swingtrim is the first of its kind and we’re delighted to offer customers a change to see it for the first time at Agritechnica,” McConnel marketing manager Wayne Brown said. “It’s the first of a new generation of Power Arms and an exciting new evolution of our product line.”
