Lemken: Head of new Crop Care business unit named

Lemken has moved into the next stage of expanding its field sprayer segment following the opening of its Haren/Ems factory in early 2016 and the successful market launch of its Vega trailed field sprayer.

The company created eight new engineering positions in its Development and Testing departments, and has also made crop protection a separate business unit, which has been headed by 41-year-old Iljan Schouten (pictured) since February 1.

Netherlands-born Mr Schouten is responsible for production, product management and product marketing of Lemken crop protection technology at the Haren facility, which employs 59 staff and currently manufactures not only the new Vega models, but also the proven Albatros and Primus trailed field sprayers, the Sirius mounted field sprayer and the Gemini front tank. Mr Schouten has also assumed technical responsibility for the development, sales and service of field sprayers.

Mr Schouten brings mor than 15 years’ experience in senior marketing and product management roles, for the past six years for crop protection implements, fertilizer spreaders and electronics to his new position. He is, therefore, ideally qualified to establish the field sprayer portfolio of the Lemken family business on the Lower Rhine as a leading market player and to launch new products on the markets.

The development of a self-propelled field sprayer will be given high priority in this regard. Lemken has entered into a strategic partnership with the company Bräutigam for this purpose. Bräutigam, a specialist in the construction of self-propelled and carrier vehicles, will contribute the chassis and cab for Lemken self-propelled sprayer model.
