Kuhn Farm Machinery has launched two new multi-purpose shredders – the BPR 240 and BPR 280 – to the UK market. Both ae available as left-hand offset machines making them perfectly suited for the maintenance of UK roadside verges, as well as for more general landscape and agricultural maintenance work.
The BPR 240 (2.37m working width) and BPR 280 (2.79m working width) can both be front or rear mounted and use a helical rotor fitted with forged hammer knives and two counter knives to cut a range of materials; from pasture land and tall grasses to short prunings, vine shoots and arable trash.
Both machines boast a compact design – the BPR 240 has an overall width of just 2.68m, the BPR 280 an overall width of just 2.99m – and are fitted with a hydraulically operated side offset function which gives 58cm of lateral adjustment. They also feature roller controlled height adjustment, a pivoting rear hood for easy trash removal and automatic drive belt tensioning.
The new shredders can be mounted on a three-point, Cat 2 rigid of floating linkage and can be operated at a PTO speed of either 540rpm (rotor speed of 1,833rpm) or 1,000 rpm (rotor speed of 1,960rpm).
The BPR 240 can be equipped with 48 universal knives, 24 hammer knives or 60 hammer flails and is suitable for use with tractors in the 57-125hp range, with retail prices starting from £7,479 (correct at March 2017).
The BPR 280 can be equipped with 56 universal knives, 28 hammer knives or 72 hammer flails and is suitable for use with tractors in the 67-125hp range, with retail prices starting from £8,725.
When front-mounted, the new machines make an ideal pairing with Kuhn’s rear-mounted offset TBE 222 shredder. Starting at £10,714, this 2.14m working width machine is ideal for maintaining roadsides, field edges, scrub and ditches. As with the BPR machines, the TBE 222 is equipped with a 4mm welded sheet metal lining for robustness and longevity, with a Hardox steel skid providing additional wear resistance. The TBE’s 450mm diameter rotor can be fitted with 48 universal knives, 24 hammer knives or 54 hammer flails and is suitable for use with tractors with a PTO output in the 50hp to 150hp range.
