Lemken established AgroTraining as a separate department as early as in 2008 in view of its large number and diversity of sales markets, its sophisticated technology and its numerous operating options.
Headed by Peter Baumgärtner, this department now employs six trainers, who provide training to about 5,000 employees and sales partners every year, so that was reason enough to establish a separate AgroFarm only 4km away from the company’s Alpen headquarters.
The investment of more than five million euros for the AgroFarm opens up new opportunities to Lemken, where it’s seen as an investment in the future. The training hall alone, that covers an area of 1,400 square metres – with separate sections for the firm’s ploughs, stubble cultivation, sowing and crop protection product groups – offers excellent opportunities for explaining its machines.
Lemken is also able to access adjacent fields to demonstrate implements directly in practical use. Together with the modern seminar rooms in the facility, some of which offer direct views of the training hall, up to four separate groups can be trained concurrently in the new facility.
An existing farm house on the 11,000 square metre site was restored to its original glory, and now houses the canteen. The adjacent generous garden further supports a pleasant learning environment.
All of the training courses delivered are comprised of three modules: participants are trained in theoretical background knowledge first, followed by practical exercises using the implements in the hall before they are finally given ample opportunity for testing and practising outside in the field.
The programme extends from training on fundamentals and innovations for sales staff and Lemken employees, through to specialised training for service staff of specialist agricultural machinery dealers and the company’s own aftersales colleagues in more than 50 international markets.
