Opico appointed UK distributor for Strautmann

Opico has taken over the UK distribution of machinery from German manufacturer Strautmann from Reco. This includes the main product ranges: trailed and self-propelled vertical auger diet feeders, forage wagons, and rear-discharge muck spreaders.

The Bourne, Lincolnshire-based firm will take on the responsibility for technical support and supply of parts for machines already on-farm, from January 1, 2016, and will be working with the existing Strautmann dealer network.

Opico’s MD James Woolway said he was very pleased to take on what he considered to be the market-leading machinery ranges in the areas of fodder transport and feeding technology.

“Strautmann is a very focused company which is investing heavily in research and development,” he added. “With livestock farmers needing to minimise their costs of production to remain competitive, the design and technology behind Strautmann machinery has much appeal.

“Strautmann diet feeders are known for their low horsepower requirement, mix quality and build quality. And Strautmann forage wagons are recognised for their consistent short chop length, low power requirement and low running cost.

“As for Strautmann muck spreaders, I believe the market for these products will continue to grow along with the requirements for more precise spreading of lime, manure and waste products.”
