Kuhn Farm Machinery’s range-topping square and round bale wrapper, the SW4004, has received a major update and is now available with an automatic loading facility which increases the machine’s bale wrapping capacity and improves operator comfort.
The unit provides fast, cost-efficient and operator-friendly wrapping. Capable of wrapping square bales up to 120cm wide x 140cm high x 200cm long and round bales up to 150cm in diameter, the SW4014 has an operational width of 4.0m and a compact 2.5m transport width.
The baler is now equipped with Kuhn’s unique Autoload system that uses a laser to detect square bales as the machine approaches. The laser automatically scans the length of the bale and sets the loading arms into their pre-load position. The machine then automatically loads, wraps and unloads bales. This not only improves operating efficiency and speed (users are reporting up to a 15 per cent increase in daily bale wrapping capacity) but also reduces operator fatigue.
The SW4014’s hydraulic sliding frame design gives the machine an extremely wide wheelbase for outstanding stability. The sliding frame allows bales to be easily loaded as part of the machine’s ‘drive through’ operating procedure, and gives the machine’s operator an excellent view of the wrapping process. Even bales located in tight field corners are easy to pick up thanks to the machine’s two pairs of twin steel rollers which enable bales to be loaded in either forward or reverse directions of travel.
The SW4014 is Isobus compatible and uses Kuhn’s IntelliWrap system to provide optimal film distribution across the entire circumference of the bale. the IntelliWrap system allows the operator to select between four and nine layers of film to be applied, with the wrapping film being pre-stretched as it is applied to create a tight seal and reduce film usage. The film is then cut and held ready for the next bale by two scissors-type film cutters.
The SW4014 has a limited oil flow requirement and can therefore be operated by a broad range of tractors. As an option, the wrapper can be equipped with a PTO-driven oil supply for optimal wrapping capacity.
